The replacement of a vital railroad bridge over a congested street in Stamford, CT required the use of Accelerated Bridge Construction. While the contractor constructed the [6] superstructure spans off-site, Siefert Associates, LLC engineered the self-propelled modular transporter [SPMT] arrangement and monitoring plan to safely and efficiently carry each of the 1.6-million pound superstructure spans into place. SALLC also produced erection plans for the jump spans and the design of temporary support of excavation [SOE] and underpinning as part of the construction of the proposed pier.
