Bridge No. 04326 Widening

In May 2017, Siefert Associates has completed work on a temporary excavation support systems as part of the Rehabilitation of Bridge No. 04326, Route 175 Over AMTRAK located in Newington, Connecticut. The four individual temporary excavation support systems retain the existing roadway at the four corners of the bridge to allow for widening of the existing bridge. The temporary excavation support systems consist of steel sheetpiles driven to bedrock with up to three levels of internal bracing.

In April 2017, Siefert Associates was selected by GCCOM Construction Company to provide construction engineering services for erection of the West Thames pedestrian bridge in New York, NY.

Route 280 Route 21 Interchange Permanent Soldier Piles and Lagging

Siefert Associates, LLC is providing geotechnical engineering services for the design and construction of two, permanent, soldier pile and lagging walls for the Route 280, Route 21 Interchange project in Newark, New Jersey.  Each wall will be up to 30 feet tall and 200 feet long and will be supported by up to four levels of permanent ground anchors.

Saw Mill River Parkway Temp Bridges

In March 2017, Siefert Associates submitted bridge demolition plans and crane plans for launching temporary bridges, required for the Saw Mill River Parkway over Kisco River and Branch Brook bridge replacements, to Yonkers Contracting Company.

Maple Street Bridge Inspection Commences

In March, 2017, Siefert Associates resumed full time construction administration and inspection for the 2nd construction season at the Rehabilitation of Maple Street Bridge in Naugatuck, CT for the Borough of Naugatuck.

Reducer Replacement on 3rd Street Bridge Over Gowanus Canal

Last month Skanska Koch contracted Siefert Associates for rigging engineering services to replace a reducer unit on the 3rd Street Bridge. The existing bridge is a double-leaf Scherzer rolling lift bascule constructed in 1905. The work is part of an emergency contract for restoration of mechanical and electrical systems on twelve movable bridges in NYC.

Conexpo Las Vegas

Early this month, Siefert Associates, LLC attended Conexpo in Las Vegas. Conexpo is the international gathering place every 3 years for industry professionals and showcases some of the latest equipment and technology available in the heavy-civil industry. Siefert Associates, LLC team members presented at the “Planning Load Move: ASME P30.1 and its Practical Application” workshop as members of the ASME P30 Committee.
